An Interview With The Wonderfully Idiosyncratic Alex Ebert About His New Solo Album ‘I Vs I’Mar 24, 20201 min readThere is one recent performance that wonderfully and eccentrically encapsulates the entire essence of Alex Ebert. To promote his new album ‘I vs I’, he appears on Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show, an excellent platform for any musician big or small. Ebert proceeds to put on a truly artistic piece: singing ‘Stronger’ from the album, old-time video footage is projected onto his body as he succinctly prances around the stage striking muscle poses; it’s avant-garde, or at least as avant-garde as the innately vanilla world of Late Night Television gets. When the music stops, there is a small but noticeable pause before the bewildered audience begins to clap. The smirk and insouciant charm that was pronounced as Ebert performed was telling, his signal that he knew that he would be challenging those watching.
